No Time to Cook Meals the Conventional Way? Use a Microwave!


These days, many of us lead extremely hectic lives. Often, cooking a healthy meal for our families is just not an option, because it takes so much time. Why not cook healthy meals in a microwave oven? Contrary to popular belief, microwave cooking can be extremely healthy, just as healthy as cooking the traditional way, and it takes a lot less time than cooking on the stovetop or in the oven.

Does this sound familiar… you work all day long, sit in traffic for an hour or two after work, and arrive home well after dinner time, with absolutely no energy to cook a healthy meal, either for your family, or yourself if you are single? A lot of things can be prepared in this type of appliance in half the time it would take in a conventional oven. For example, you can have certain vegetables, such as broccoli and corn, already half cooked before the water in a pot on the stove even comes to a boil. If your dish requires melted cheese, you can have it ready before the oven is even heated up.

Create Healthy Meals Quickly and Easily
Do you have a favorite healthy recipe that you and your family absolutely love? You know, with a little bit of trial and error, and some creativity, you can convert your favorite recipes so that they will work in the microwave. For instance, many people love a delicious stir-fry. Why not cook the meat in the microwave (it only takes a couple of minutes to cook beef or chicken strips thoroughly), then steam some vegetables (yes, you can do this in such an appliance, no matter what you have been told to the contrary). Add your stir-fry seasoning, and toss everything together. Since you aren’t using any oil, this is even healthier than cooking it in a wok.

Don’t Forget Dessert
Once you’ve had a healthy meal, it’s time to treat yourself to a delicious dessert (or late night snack for those who like something sweet before going to bed). For a really quick and easy dessert, there are all kinds of recipes for cakes that you can make right in a mug, and they only take a couple of minutes to throw all of the ingredients together. No mixing in a bowl, no digging out the electric mixer, just stir with a fork and pop in the microwave for a couple of minutes. Then, you can enjoy a piping-hot cup of delicious chocolate cake.

When it comes to cooking healthy meals for yourself and your family, don’t think that you can’t because you don’t have the time. When you use a microwave oven, you will not only be able to create delicious, healthy meals in under a half an hour, you will have more time to linger over the delicious dessert!
