Stainless Steel is not the Only Choice in Kitchen Appliances

Stainless steel kitchen appliances are a good choice, but they are not the only choice there is to be had. There are other metal finishes that can be seen in the kitchen from bronzes to others. There are several reasons that people choose to have metal finished kitchen appliances and there are several things to consider when making that choice yourself.

Price -- Some stainless steel items might be more expensive than other choices. In fact, most metallic finishes can occasionally be more expensive than the other items. If you are interested in finding a good quality stainless steel or other metallic finished appliance, make sure that you are still looking around for your best pricing options and selections. Remember to consider the features that you want when looking at models and prices.

Finish -- Stainless steel and other metallic finishes typically come in two different styles, a brushed finish and a shiny finish. The difference between the two finishes is not just in the appearance of course, but in the performance of the two. First, the shiny finishes look great but they also show every finger print and smudge. The brushed finish hides most of these.

Other metallic finishes can also be attractive, with a copper like appearance that looks warm and inviting in the kitchen. There are other color choices in the metals which can be used, from bright jewel tones and others.

Some small appliances have a hardened plastic shell rather than real metal which should be another consideration. While these are cheaper options they may also be less sturdy and may not last nearly as long.

Selection -- For some appliance appearances, there are more choices than in other finishes. For instance, stainless steel kitchen appliances or brushed aluminum finished items can be easier to find than some other styles. If you know where to look for the widest selection of microwave, toasters, and other appliances, you can find what you need. If not, you can see what selection is available at the appliance store before you make a final choice.

In many stores, the items are all gathered together so that you can see how they might appear in your own kitchen. If they do not have each of the items grouped together, move smaller items around so that you can get a good idea of final appearance.

Care -- No matter what kind of finish you choose to have for your kitchen appliances, you have to care for them in the right way to keep them looking at their best for the longest period of time. You don’t want to use any abrasive cleansers or rough cloths which can scratch the surface of the appliance. Scratches can leave spots where some forms of bacteria can grow.

Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for how to care for your items in the best way so that they function and look great for many years.
