Microwave: The Complete Kitchen ApplianceThe kitchen is the only place in the home that is generally full of appliances. With mechanization of all processes to minimize human effort and hasten the pace of work, and to ease the burden of manual labor involved in cooking, various appliances were invented, each performing a specific task and make a tedious job simpler. Thus the electric kettle boils water and does away with the need of boiling water in a pan, a blender and chopper can chop or puree fruits and vegetables at ten times the speed of an individual. This helps conserve human energy for more fruitful and lucrative jobs that are often more intellectually stimulating as well. Electric appliances came into homes once servants were no longer available and housewives had to accomplish all cooking tasks single-handedly. However, all kitchens do not have all types of gadgets and appliances. People less focused on cooking and eating just to survive, and accustomed to eating out, or inclined to have quick TV dinners, keep minimal amounts of equipment in their kitchens. But even these people would definitely buy a microwave, because it helps to heat and reheat foods, defrost foodstuff stored in the freezer, and cook at speeds not otherwise possible. The meal-in-minutes feature of microwaves has made them a universally essential appliance for the kitchen. If an individual had to have a very simple kitchen fulfilling just the very basic requirements, what would he choose? It would inevitably be a refrigerator and a microwave. After all, a kitchen needs a water source to wash and clean vegetables, meats, and utensils; it needs a refrigerator to store a few basic items of food that can be preserved for day at a cooler temperature; and finally some kind of heating equipment for an occasional cooking session. Every other appliance is incomplete except for the cooking range and oven. The cooking range is too complicated because it would mean pots and pans, and a lot of other accessories, ovens would take too long and cannot cook all types of food. That leaves the microwave, which can cook in minutes, retain the original flavor of food without destroying all the nutrients and is so convenient because one bowl will suffice for cutting, washing, cooking and serving. Microwaves fit in everywhere. Microwaves come in different sizes and with a host of features. The price ranges vary according to the features available in the model. They do not need a defined kitchen even, the only prerequisite being an electricity outlet. Thus they can fit into cabinets, or be used as pullout drawers, over the counter or over the range. Irrespective of the price, all microwaves can cook in the same manner because the use of electromagnetic energy or microwaves, remain common to all. Microwaves are perhaps the only electrical appliance even children can be trusted with, since they do not start till the door is closed. Serving the needs of students living alone, or single men and women not having access to a kitchen, their utility cannot be elaborated enough. The inventor of the microwave has rendered an invaluable service to humanity. | Red Microwave Red Microwaves Red Microwave Oven Sitemap |
