Many people assume that the size of the appliance will be directly influenced by the size of the price that you will pay for it. The price that you see for a small microwave can be larger than what you would pay for a full sized in some cases because of the convenience. The smaller size might be priced higher because of marketing.

Making Sure You Get the Right Features
If you are only using the microwave for one or two uses and only every now and then, you will obviously need far less features than what you would need if you are only cooking in this versatile appliance. If you are into cooking mini bags of popcorn and other smaller snacks and practically live on convenience foods you will still need the majority of the features for your microwave, if you only need it to melt or reheat items, you need far less of them.

Consider Your Cookware Choices
Cooking in a microwave oven requires using the right cookware items. Number one, you have to have cookware that is safe for microwave cooking to begin with. For instance, the tubs that you get butter or whipped topping in is meant for one time use and should not be used for food storage or microwave cooking at all. Not only is the plastic not strong enough to last without melting, it can also leach dangerous chemicals into your foods.

When you are buying cookware for your mini microwave oven, you might have to consider whether or not you are going to be able to fit these items into the appliance at all. Some mini microwaves will still hold a full sized dinner plate while some will not. If you have any concerns about what will and will not fit into your proposed purchase, you can either read the size dimensions on the box or actually put a few different pieces into the display models. If you are finding that the items that you have on hand are too large for your miniature microwave oven, buy a few pieces that will fit and reserve them only for use in the microwave.
